STAMFORD, CT - Independence Holding Company (IHC) said it has purchased additional shares of common stock of American Independence Corp. (AMIC) in open-market transactions and raised its stake in the company to more than 50%.

Having acquired a majority of AMIC, IHC will consolidate AMIC in its reported financial results beginning with the first quarter of 2010. AMIC is principally engaged in the insurance and reinsurance business. (IAM News)
